The Key to Keeping your Family Together

Bringing your family together for a home cooked meal is a challenge. Everyone is always rushing around and dinner comes in the form of to go bags from Apple bees or burrito sacks. Even if your kids don’t complain you need to get them around the table once in a while.Your children will be benefited from eating dinner with you. It is a time to slow down and touch base with your family. This may be the only time you get to reconnect with your kids. Eating dinner as a family is essential to developing good kids and families often run circles around each other.

Making a family calendar is once way to organize a family dinner. In order to have everyone there you have to put some planning into it. You can make a healthy, delicious meal and have your family all to yourself for an evening. It’s sad that this is such a rare occasion. Scientists have proved that kids who ate with their families have developed better eating habits and social skills. This is because eating at home assures you that your kids are getting a nutritious meal, and these habits will become natural to them .They are more successful because they learn social skills and manners form their parents, which ultimately leads to being able to do well in the work place.

If dinner with the family is simply unattainable, find another way to spend time with them. Maybe your family is an exercise family in which you could set aside Sundays or Saturdays to work out together in some way.You can exercise in a gym or do an activity with one another. Family bike rides, hiking and kayak trips are great ways to get exercise and have fun at the same time. These are some of my favorite ways to spend time with my family because it tends to bring out the child and fun side in everyone.

Family game night may sound lame, but it tends to be a really fun thing. Some people try to make it seem lame, but family game nights can be hilarious. You don’t have to keep in strictly family either. Family game night is the perfect opportunity to meat a new best friend of boyfriend of you child’s. It is a great way yo spend time and bond without making it seem like a chore. Plus, we are no longer limited to just monopoly or life anymore. Playing scene it or wii all night is a fun experience for everyone.

Your kids may not think being together is really important, but it truly is. They may not realize it yet, but they will appreciate the time you spend together when they grow up. Spending time with your family makes you a better person in all ways.

How About Pre Employment Background Screening When Applying For a Job

Depending on your age, you probably remember when pre employment background screening meant that someone checked to be sure that your past job listings are accurate and they may have called a few of your references. Some places would confirm your education, but not all of them were as concerned about that point. Those were the simple days and you always knew what to expect through that type of background screening. Things have changed, and the laws keep changing. These are the things business owners must keep up with today.

The first time I was aware that things were changing was when I went to apply for a job at a bank. I would not have been handling money in any way, shape, or form, as it was a job for an executive assistant. However, when going over what they did for pre employment background screening, they asked me to sign a paper allowing them to find and review my credit report.

I was very surprised at first, but after I thought about it, it make a lot of sense for a bank to do this. Many other types of companies have now added this to some of their pre employment background screening as well.

There are some other things that have come up as a part of pre employment background screening that parents love. When anyone is hired by a school system, daycare facility, or any other place that puts someone into contact with young children, there is a search done for a past record of child abuse or sexual misconduct.

Those that come up with something on their record through this type of pre employment background screening are automatically eliminated from being hired. If they refuse to give clearance for an employer to do this search, they are not going to get the job.

Depending on where you want to work, your pre employment background screening may also include a check into your criminal history. Most applications ask outright if you have been convicted of a felony. It is always important to be honest about this, as they are going to find out anyway.

If you have lied, you are not going to get the job. On the other hand, depending on what you did, being honest about it may mean that you are a good candidate. When asked for this as a part of pre employment background screening, be honest and up front.

The problem with some of this is that the laws in regards to pre employment background screening and records searching are becoming murky. There are some things that are now forbidden in some places, even if the candidate gives written permission for someone to search out this type of information. If you are doing the hiring, make sure you know the laws in your sate. If you are looking for work, you should know what someone can ask you for and what they can not.

How To Have A Magnificent Wedding Day And Not End Up Broke!

You’re getting married. Congratulations are in order. Problem is, you have a very small budget but you want your dream wedding. What do you do? Do you end up using a public place on the beach and get some nice beach wedding favors?

Honestly, even though the average wedding budget today, exceeds $20,000, what do you really have to have to get married? Well, first and foremost, you need the person who is going to marry you. Secondly, you need an Officiate. And last but not least, you need witnesses. Just that will get you married. But I’m sure, when you are dealing with a budget, that’s the last thing you want to hear. And probably another thing you don’t want to hear is that your guests really would love to have cheap personalized wedding favors.

First problem people have is that they have a pre-conceived idea of what they want and not what they can achieve with their budget. Don’t begin by making a list of all the items and pretty extras that you have to have. Start with the basics and then build from there.

Make a list of the people you absolutely “have” to invite. Bring it down to just your immediate family and close friends and relatives if you have to. And a very novel idea is to have two celebrations. Have one on the exact day of your wedding and another one as a house-warming, wedding party which someone can give you “after” your married. This is becoming very popular and everyone understands. More than likely, they’ve been in this same situation. And some people even do this for their Bridal Showers and they then give their guests wedding shower favors.

Another important idea is to read forums. The ideas that exist on them are endless. You’ll “talk” with people who are in the same financial situation and have amazing ideas to help you. Thousands of dollars can be saved with just a few money-saving ideas you get from making these new friends.

Lastly, decide what you can do yourself, or have friends do for you. For example, a friend, as a wedding gift, can be the photographer for the day. Another can be the videographer. Instead of a sit-down dinner, have a buffet or even hors d’oeuvres and desserts only. Borrow your wedding gown or even rent one. Use balloons instead of flowers and buy a “how to” book on how to make balloon arches, etc.

The saying, “where there’s a will, there’s a way” is very true. If you sit down with your future spouse, family and friends and explain the situation, everyone will help. Just remember, because you have a strict budget does not mean that you will not have a beautiful wedding. Some of the most touching, precious moments I can remember were at weddings which cost very little money. And anyway, what is more important is your new life ahead, not that one day. Learn to work with what you have and it will be beautiful.

How You Can Cope With Your Phone Job Interviews

In some cases, Telephone interviews are a way for employers to “pre-screen” possible job candidates before they are granted an in-person interview. In other cases, employers will conduct the full interview over the phone. What this means is that you need to be prepared to not only compete with a live interview scenario, but also be prepared to interview well over the Phone as well. I just wanted to share with you some ideas as to how you could ensure that your Phone interview has a successful outcome.

Phone|Phone} Interview Suggestions:

1. Definitely use a land line. Mobile phone signals can be quite patchy - both at your end as well as the employers. With a Phone line to get in the way}. You have to take control of as many of the variables as you can, to ensure a smooth interview.
2. Collect your things to be close at hand. In fact, lay everything right out in front of you. This includes your curriculum vitae, written remarks about your career objective (even if it isn’t enclosed in your original cover letter it’s a good idea to have this out depending on the questions he will ask you), a pen and pad of paper for note-taking and anything else you think may be helpful during your interview. Because you won’t have to enter into an office, you can have anything out in front of you to aid with your success.
3. Phone interview. Ideally, you will have none, but in reality - there are the kids, your partner and other day to day events that could disrupt the flow of the Phone interview. Try to predict and prepare for them as best you can.}
4. Speak slowly and clearly. When you speak to people face-to-face, you are able to understand what they are saying more clearly because you can see their mouth move. So in a way, you are reading their lips! Neither you nor your potential employer will be able to do this over the phone of course, so speak clearly and a little bit more slowly than you would if you were talking to this person in person. If you can’t hear him, drop hints that he isn’t speaking clearly or loud enough by politely asking him to repeat himself. If this makes you uncomfortable at all you can always blame it on your phone: “I’m really sorry, it’s hard to hear you, the volume on my phone just won’t go up!”
5. Remember - you can’t be seen. That means that anything you say cannot be interpreted by your body language. Beware of jokes or sarcastic remarks that would have been harmless had he seen your facial expression. Maintain your professionalism; stay on target with the interview topics and focus on the key information about you that will get you hired.
6. Sadly, it is still needed to tell people to be careful about eating and drinking whilst on the Phone. This is a serious meeting that you are having. However, being on the Phone can generate a more relaxed state in you, if you are used to gossiping to friends on the phone. Eat and drink before the interview and keep on track during your interview.
7. Make sure that you have prepared the questions that you want to ask in advance. Just like in a personal interview, prepare a few questions to ask your potential employer at the end of your phone interview. Some illustrations are:

“What does a typical day look like for an employee with this job?”

“What are some skills I would need to develop in order to excel in the position I’m applying for?”

“What software/equipment would I be using?”

Take Note - do not ask about wages or benefits until the employer has introduced the topic.

Fortunately, it can be less intimidating interviewing over the phone with these Phone interview Suggestions and you may even feel more confident that you’ll do well. Great! As long as you are fully prepared and take the necessary precautions, there is no reason why you shouldn’t have a successful phone interview.

The Spray Bark Collar: An Alternative to the Shock Collar

Amidst the existing controversies regarding the usage of shock and sonic bark collars on pets, the choice of spray bark collars prove to be innovative and effective among many of the pet owners today. Before getting an anti bark spray collar for your loved pet, you should really understand the principle behind it as well as the differences between the different models that there are.

The anti bark spray collar, a Forte to Pet Owners

Dog Owners that have pets that bark more than they would like to can use the anti bark spray collar as a good, effective, and humane solution to the problem. This type of anti bark collar senses the vibrations in the dog’s neck that are caused by the sound of the bark, and in turn, it releases a small squirt of citronella that sprays the dog’s muzzle. The dog smells, feels, sees and hears the drops of spray that were spurted around. The odor of citronella isn’t pleasurable to the dog, and it’ll make it stop barking in order to try to figure out what happened, and with time, the dog will eventually link the spray with the unwanted barking.

PetSafe and Innotek are the couple of popular brands of spray bark collars in the US. As mentioned, it pays to take a bit of time to understand the differences between the different models that are available to the public. Few of the factors that influence the choice of the spray bark collars constitute the dog’s size, its type, battery backup, coverage range and additional features offered.

When you compare the several features of the several models available with what you think your dog needs, you’ll get a much better collar for your money.

Good Things About The anti bark spray collar

The anti bark spray collar is considered by dog trainers as the most humane of all training collars, since the citronella spray is neither painful nor harmful to the dog. A study that was conducted by dog trainers at the Mesa Veterinary Hospital in 2003 showed that anti bark spray collars were very effective when used to reduce excessive barking.

The purpose of this article is to let you know a bit more about the spray collar and how it works. There was also some insight on the factors that you should consider when getting a spray collar. Finally, it talks about a study on spray collars that you can easliy look up.

The Pursuit of Continual Improvement

A prevalent point of view of the requirement ‘continual improvement’ which is listed in the contents of the ISO 9001 Standard (8.5.1) is that in some manner it is related to an actual improvement of a product or a service. A more attentive enquiry may find this to be a fairly obvious misinterpretation, as the document isn’t even a product or service specification, but a general system for regulating the quality of the product or service through what is produced. Title - - ISO9001:2000 Quality management systems - Requirements’. So, in so far as the Standard relates to the organisations’ output, it defines a control and assurance system that should provide a measure of conformance for the outgoing product. The improvement requirement refers to the manner in which this control is affected.

Herein lies the real problem with the ISO9000 series, as it has little to do with management in the normally accepted definition of that word, and certainly nothing to do with business management, which is about efficiency, effectiveness and costs. Coerced into an ISO9000 program by (in the UK) a government sponsored initiative which planned to boost the nation’s international image for quality, organisations of all sizes accepted the standard and registration in the belief that this by itself would improve their overall status in their individual markets. At first this was accurate, but when competitors also acquired their own registered status certificate, and there simply weren’t any which stood out from the crowd, buyers went back to their usual practice of purchasing against criteria that didn’t have anything to do with ISO9000 registration. Clearly the Continuing Improvement aspect of the document was either a myth, wasn’t being implemented, or didn’t relate to what the customer wanted.

It seems apparent that if a product or service has reached a satisfactory standard of “quality” (whatever this may mean to the purchaser), any additional improvement - from the point of view of the purchaser, will be in the domains of cost and availability. These are not features that concern the ISO 9000 standards; however, they do impact on the customer’s perception of that product or service. It also follows that they would effect the task of the Sales and Marketing individuals who have the primary responsibility of convincing possible customers of the uniqueness and overall supremacy of their products. Here we find the Standard at its weakest and Continuing Improvement a sham.

If an organisation were to adopt a different approach to the management of the business, to the management of Quality if you prefer, and that approach directly addressed the cost of generating and delivering the organisations product or service, THAT would result in improvement, and probably continual improvement.

Why would this be different to the laboriously developed ISO9000 management system? For the simple reason that every top management team understands one language - money. A rationally constituted cost measurement scheme would include ‘error free’ cost estimates, plus actual measurement of costs incurred due to a failure to achieve the error free working. We call this the cost of non-conformance, or perhaps more acceptably ‘Transaction Costs’. If executive managers could be persuaded to abandon ISO9000 theory in favour of the collection of honest cost data such as this, business would - overnight, become more profitable because of the actions they would take - or have taken for them - to rectify the clear overspend found by this approach.

Generally this will not happen. Not due to any difficulty or inability to collect this data, but an inbuilt belief by virtually everyone not familiar with Eastern Cultures that error & failure is an inevitable consequence of human endeavour.

In the meantime, managers and their acolytes continue to hang onto the support strap ISO9000, firm in the belief that a documented system and its certificate will - as with the Wizard of Oz - be an adequate substitute for objective thought.

A Simple Man’s Guide To Pool Cue Sticks

What are some of the many important things about billiards that you have to learn? There are many people who are passionate in playing pool but are not familiar of its specific parts and their respective function or relevance. Those who claim to be experts in pool cues may not be aware that there are 13 parts starting from the bumper on one end up to the tip at the opposite end.

This article is useful for both the newbie and the experts as it is a comprehensive discussion at how it is made and how it is effectively used by players.

1. Tip – The tip is usually made with leather. The size of the tip is about the size of a dime or a nickel. It is essential that players properly care and maintain the tip, as failure to do so will result to reduced friction with the cue ball.
2. Ferrule – This part serves as the wooden part’s protector. This cue part is made out of ivory or other types of material. The material used for the ferrule must be durable enough to withstand the impact with the marble cue ball.
3. Shaft – This part of the cue is made with wood. Maple is the preferred material primarily because it is sturdy and has a long service life.
4. Trim Ring – This part protects the wood. It particularly protects the stick’s joint area. The trim ring is made out of stainless steel or a kind of hard plastic. This part of the stick ensures that it remains intact once the joint is hit.
5. Joint – The joint allows for a more convenient carrying of the stick. The stick can be taken apart by the joint after use or when storing the stick.
6. Forearm – This is one of the reasons that makes a stick expensive. It can be made out of bird’s eye maple, ebony, or other wood materials.
7. Forearm Inlay – This is the major determinant of the price tag of the stick. The cost of the stick will depend on the material that is used for the forearm inlay.
8. Handle – This is where your hand is placed and where most of the control of the shots is made.
9. Linen Wrap – The material is used as protector of the handle area. As the name implies, this part is made from some cloth-like material or linen. There are high-end sticks that use leather and this is factored in the premium price of this type of sticks. There are also low priced sticks that use nylon instead of actual cloth.
10. Butt Sleeve – This is located immediately below the handle area or the wrap. The high priced variants are usually made out of exotic wood materials.
11. Butt Sleeve Inlay – This is also a major contributor to the final cost of the stick.
12. Butt Cap – This serves as the protection for the stick while the player is chalking.
13. Bumper – This part protects the stick’s bottom end.
